Using FSRecorder for Aerial Refueling

I recorded a KC-10 flying with the fuel boom extended for a few minutes, then played that as traffic to try and see if I could perform an aerial refuel with an F/A-18, but when I played the file, the fuel boom was no longer extended. Is there a way I could record the fuel boom (which is triggered by Shift+4, like a door) or activate it after playing the file as traffic?
