Private jet pilots
I'm not sure... According to this article, it looks like there isn't much in the way of security.

Private jet pilots
Okay, perhaps this has a pretty obvious answer, but it's been nagging me for a while now. What are the airport procedures for pilots of private/corporate jets? Their planes aren't parked at gates, and I'm pretty sure they don't have to go through security, so where would they enter an international airport? Is there a particular terminal for them to register flightplans, after which they just walk to their plane? Thanks, Bram Osterhout

Bizarre Textures in Dover - FTX England
Thanks! That did it.

Bizarre Textures in Dover - FTX England
I decided to do a flight over Dover yesterday, when I noticed some very strange textures in the harbor. Has anyone else experienced this?

how to free look in virtual cockpit or outside of plane?
If by "free look", you mean just rotating the camera to get a different angle, then you can free look with the hat switch on top of most joysticks (I'd highly recommend you buy a jostick). Otherwise, if you're asking if you can pan the camera around (move the viewpoint to a different position with the arrow keys, rather than just swiveling the camera), you'll need to buy EZCA/EZDok from Flight1. It's $35, but definitely worth the price--in my opinion it completely revolutionizes the sim.

FTX England Flights
I just got FTX England (my first ORBX product--I know I'm behind on the times), but with such a large area compared to any other scenery addon I have, I'm not sure where to begin. Are there any particular regions of England that are best to fly around? Or any aircraft that are well suited for it? Thanks, boeing247

Non-functional EZDok?
All right, thanks!

Non-functional EZDok?
Yeah, I did. Sorry--should have mentioned that. I have been using the unpacked one. I'll try the original installer now... Edit: Okay, that worked perfectly... wow. I should have thought of that much earlier... However, since I removed the old EZDok installation, I seem to have an older version now (for example, it doesn't have the yellow "Cycle" buttons). Do you happen to know where I might find the update/patch?

Non-functional EZDok?
Well, it appears that EZDok has completely stopped working. I was having issues with one aircraft (the Airbus X Extended, which has its own view system that messes with EZDok), so I reinstalled, and ever since, it hasn't worked at all. The program still opens with FSX, but I can't change views by any means except the view menu in FSX. Basically, I'm stuck in the default VC view for each aircraft, and when I switch to the external EZDok view by going to the FSX view menu and selecting "EZDok Universal Camera", the camera is positioned, immobile, in the middle of the aircraft. Neither the hat switch nor any other shortcut buttons on my joystick work. Just about the only thing left functional is the dinging noise when you edit the camera by pressing Num2. I've uninstalled and reinstalled in just about every possible combination to no avail. EZDok just doesn't work. Any ideas?

Central California Scenery
I might take a look a that, then. Thanks!

Central California Scenery
Including trees?

Central California Scenery
In some places (mostly near the Sierras) that's true, but I'm thinking more of the farmland areas around Sacramento and along the I-5. BlueSky doesn't have autogen, though, right?

Central California Scenery
If you've ever been to the Central Valley in California, you'll know that most of it is wide, green farmlands. However, in FSX, it seems to have an excessive amount of shrublands and generally tan-colored expanses. Are there any freeware or payware scenery packages that add a bit more realism to the area? (I know that there's always BlueSkyScenery and MegaScenery, but I don't like the lack of autogen in those projects) Thanks, Bram Osterhout

B55 GPS knobs
Thanks so much! That did the trick--works perfectly now!

Captain Sim - "24 hrs only. Everything is 9.99!"
There's this really weird rivalry between Captain Sim and just about everyone else (mostly PMDG). I really don't know why. It certainly was not started by any companies themselves--I guess it just developed over time. Captain Sim was actually one of the leading FS companies back in the days of FS2002, and while they have been surpassed in the years since, I would put them in the top five developers (granted, probably fifth, but that's only because there are some truly amazing aircraft out there for FSX). Anyway, I own just about everything they have, but I only really enjoy flying the 777 and 707. Everything else is nice, but dated. Despite what people say, all their jetliners have pretty much fully-simulated systems. If you're just going to fly normal flights, they have all the complexity you need. It's when you start pushing the aircraft's limits and doing failure simulations that you see where CS is lacking. But of all their products, I would most highly recommend the 707. I personally like the 707 more, but if you don't mind spending the money on the PMDG version, you might as well get that for that little bit extra. However, the 707 is a comprehensive simulation, lacking only the INS--and that's because the CIVA freeware people never got back to them with information that CS needed to put it in the VC--and is totally different from anything else you've flown, guaranteed. And of course the 777 is great (or at least it will be in a little bit when they finish up with v1.0), so that would be a good buy if you don't want the PMDG version. But now I have a question of my own for the owners of the 737. I think I'm going to buy it, but I just read a review on it that seemed very negative, talking about a large lack of systems depth. Now, I frequently fly PMDG's 737NGX and J41--top-of-the-line addons--and I never feel liking I'm taking a big drop in systems depth when I fly a CS plane. Are there any big problems with the 737's systems I don't know about?
