May 2, 200422 yr Hi, I was just wondering if there is anyway of requesting a different rwy even if it is not a parallel rwy. For ex. coming into an airport from the east and rwy 09 is active with winds calm. I would like to land on rwy 27 if it doesn't conflict with traffic especially if I'm in an airliner. Or in real world I know a couple of times coming into Calgary in a smaller plane from Saskatoon when 16 or 34 is active and the winds are not over 10kts they will clear me to land on 25 or 28 with stopping before the intersection of 16 and 34. What I do right now is if I am IFR I will request the approach for that rwy and when they say cleared the approach to circle for rwy ??? I just land on the rwy I did the approach for. They tell me I was not cleared to land but when I exit the runway I stil get handed off to ground. I am pretty sure what the answer is to this question but you never know. Cheers!
May 2, 200422 yr I can ask while under ATC approach procedures, and sometimes are even allowed to change runway/approach number, but othertime sit keeps me to the one they(ATC) want. Its on the approach ATC menu.I assume this is what you mean.I do not get a 'row' unless I am just being disobedient and doing my own thing.I believe it has to be approach first then runway.
May 3, 200422 yr Author Hi there,I suppose you are aware that you'll have to request approach and runway separately... ;). However, as an alternative, only parallel runways will be offered (As far as I know, 'parallel' is within 10 degrees of the original RW heading). So, you'll have a problem trying to request the opposite runway. But I seem to remember that there was a way to trick FS using Afcad. Basically, it involved creating 36 invisible runways in all directions, making FS think they're all parallel. It might be worth having a look in the Afcad forum at the projectai website.Cheers,Gosta.http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2betateam.jpg
