May 9, 200422 yr Hi,Has anyone else had problems installing this scenery? I have just e-mailed the following to support in the hope of some clarification:"I have purchased and downloaded Wonderful Rio from simMarket.com. Could you confirm that 2 files should be downloaded:WS-wr2004.exe (48,829KB)WS-wr2004.2 (42,135KB)I ran the executable 'WS-wr2004.exe' and it appeared to autodetect the FS9 folder and complete successfully. Is the second file 'WS-wr2004.2' used by the first during the installation, or should it also be an executable file and run separately?"There is no entry in scenery.cfg of FS2004 and after much searching I found a folder for 'wonderful rio' under Brazil in the Flight Simulator 9Scenery folder. There are two sub-folders: scenery (12.0MB, 185 files) and texture (195MB, 3,661 files). This alone seems somewhat unconventional and clearly the file count suggests a great deal of detail should be visible.I installed the two patches successfully: 'wr2004_patch01.exe' and 'wr2004_patch02.exe' from the World Sceneries site and FS updated as per normal during subsequent loading.Despite all this I see none of the features and scenery detail portrayed in the impressive screenies on their site. I suspect I have a duff installation despite the series of successful install messages after running each of the executables.3 separate entries have appeared in Add or Remove Programs for Wonderful Rio and each of the two patches.Any one got any thoughts as to what may be amiss? Thanks,Mike
May 9, 200422 yr I have wonderful Rio and it sounds to me as if your installation was successful. If the scenery is not showing up in FS2004, try going to settings->scenery library->add area->scenery folder/brazil/wonderful rio-> ok, exit FS2004 and restart. The wr2004.2 file is not an executable, it is merely ment to be kept in the same folder as the exe when the installation is executed.-Andre
May 9, 200422 yr Author Hi Andre,Thanks for responding. Your helpful suggestion is noted and I had thought about trying to add it through the scenery library. What deterred me from doing so was the fact that no recommendation to carry out this action was given either on the World Sceneries site nor by their installer and I was not seeing the new scenery in the sim. This led me to suspect that the installation had not completed successfully. The somewhat unorthodox destination for the files bothered me a little as well although I do appreciate it probably doesn't matter so long as certain files are given the correct priority by being in the Fs9sceneryBrazil folder. These installers can be a bit of a pain at times when you have no control over what they do. I suppose I could have tried directing it to a temp folder before moving the files to my chosen destinations but then I wouldn't be aware of the correct priority allocations of the various included mesh and landclass files. In these situations I usually leave it to the discretion of the author.I posted here thinking it might be a few days before I received a response from support. In fact, Marcio from www.worldsceneries.com had an answer waiting for me when I got up this morning! How's that for support and at the w/e as well!It appears that I needed a 3rd file!? No such file was available for download at Simmarket.com. Very obligingly he has provided me with a link to a fully patched set of files - 10 + a brief readme - only one is the executable, but the rest have to be in the same temp folder as the executable. These I have now downloaded and will be installing soonest :)Thanks again for trying to help me - much appreciated!Regards,Mike
