Flying VOR Navigation lesson enroute to Paine Field 6 NM. I follow the 360 radial making 2 left turns (West and South) with no problem. Once past the VOR station the instructor wants me to track the VOR station FROM 2 miles out and 4000'. So I turn to heading 090 when the needles begins moving. After 5 NM FROM VOR station instructor ends lesson.I tried multiple times but the VOR station could not be received on the 090 radial outbound. I tried complete 360 turns but the radial was not received.Any ideas would be appreciated?

I just flew the lesson with no problems. See attached file. The VOR was tuned and worked properly the entire time. I cheated by turning on the autopilot, selecting ALT, HDG, then click the heading bug. The only time you need to turn the heading bug in large amounts is during the final turn to the East, but don't turn it too far or too fast.If you have any third party addon scenery in that area, it may be causing a problem. If so, temporarily remove or deselect the addon scenery in the Scenery Library if in a separate folder other than the normal ..Addon SceneryScenery folder.W. Sieffert

Good to know that it can be done.Funny thing about the autopilot when the lesson starts the autopilot is set as follows:Altitute: 0VS: -700 If I do set altitute to 4000 when the plane is handed to me the altitude is at 3500 and declining.I do not have any addon scenery for the area in question. I am running Ultimate Traffic.
