Re-Install FS2002

Featured Replies

May I ask the question since I have a small problem with FS2002,that, if I uninstall the sim and then re-install, will I loseall ad-on`s that I have, hundreds of them in fact such as airportsand aircraft etc. Is there a way all these can be saved?? I need to do this since I upgraded my computer to WinXP andcopied the files from win 98SE, hence the small error which Iwill live with if I cannot keep all the ad-on`s.Advice please and thank you,YoursJohn

FS2002 is not in the WinXP registry. Rename the old FS2002 folder to FS2002OLD, install a new copy of FS2002, either the same disk partition or another. Once installed, start the new installation, let it stabilize, and make sure it is working properly. Exit the new installation. If you placed the new installation on the same disk partition, then rename the new FS2002 folder to FS2002NEW, then rename FS2002OLD to FS2002. If you placed the new installation on a different partition or drive, copy the entire FS2002OLD to the partition or drive where the new installation resides. Delete the fs2002.cfg in the old installation, since WinXP names things differently, such as the joystick, graphics card, etc. Restart FS2002, let it stabilize, and check to see if all your old addons, scenery, are in place. If you have any problems, rename the FS2002 folder to FS2002OLD, then rename FS2002NEW to FS2002. Recheck that it is working properly. So files and gauges seem to have a problem with WinXP and that may cause problems. Since you now have two versions, OLD and NEW, you can slowly copy items from OLD to NEW to troubleshoot any problems.W. Sieffert
