Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis)

Featured Replies

In former FS 2002 you could admire a beautiful lightshow, when flyingin areas at a latitude => 70 N during winterseason,in clear skies, around midnight. For example Hammerfest Airport situated in Norway and Thule Airforce Base on Greenland were wellknown for this phenoma.Much to my regret FS 2004 refuses to start up this lightshow when flying in the same areas and under exactly the same conditions as mentioned above.(Special Effects slider is set to maximum).Any hints to get back this lightshow will be greatly appreciated.Nice flying to all of you!Cheers, Paddy

I'm not the person you asked but I can help you out. I took a screen shot of the Northern Lights back on December 10th while I was flying in Alaska. Not sure of the time. Willhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg

Saw them in late January while flying FS9 in northern AK- fabulous sight!!Dave

Hoi Will,Thanks a lot for publishing your very nice screenshot of the Aurora Borealis over Alsaka !I printed it out and added it to my screenshot-collection "Areal Sights out of FS Aircraft enroute"Kind regards, Paddy

Hallo Randy,Very nice and interesting website you made there down in Taiwan!I hope Par can give us more details of his flight over Finlandin order we can rediscover this phenomena on FS 2004.Keep me informed if he should answer you via personal e-mail.Kind regards nd nice flying,Paddy

My brother stumbled onto the lights by accident flying in AK. He saved the flight so he could reload it later and show them to me. We spent about an hour reloading that saved flight and never saw the lights. I did see them in a different Ak flight. Saved that flight and reloaded it many times and never got the lights again. Looks like they are so random, getting date and time someone else had them probably won't work for you.

Thanks for the nice words Paddy....I'll let you know if I get any info.Larry,...I was beginning to think just that. Thanks for the confirmation...will just have to put in some night flights. Interesting thing is that I really do have to do it at night, to keep the lights down..it's so bright in my room, can hardly see the screen during the day!Randy
