1000 Scenery maximum? Can someone confirm?

Featured Replies

Hello Gang!I have finally reached 1000 entries in the scenery.cfg file. When this happened, FS2004 turned into a major "DOG". The minute I de-activated scenery entry 1000, the sim worked fine again. Can someone confirm if the 1000 limitation still exists in 2004?Thanks in advance!Sincerely,Dennis D. Mullert

Sincerely,

1000 sceneries? What do you do, just goto to the file library and select "download all"? :)

That's a very good question that I wouldn't mind knowing the answer to myself. Asked once when the sim first came out but never got an answer.I download almost every piece of scenery work I can find; almost a second hobby in itself with my collection currently at 16.5 gig. For Canada and the USA alone I currently have 1,093 folders in my library archives. Albeit, some of these will be updates to others and some are AFCAD files; but add to this everything I have for the rest of the world . . .One can see that 1,000 files, when installed, will easily be exceeded.By the way Dennis, one way I got around this in FS2002 was that instead of a separate folder for every single piece of scenery, I often created an addon-on scenery folder with the authors name/scenery/texture and any works of his got placed into the one folder. Rarely had any conflicts and helped considerably.I have just got a new computer and will be doing a fresh install of FS2004. I will then be installing all of this stuff. So, again, is there a 1,000 scenery maximum limit?Regards,Heather

Hello Gang! After carefully looking at my scenery.cfg file, it turns out that I do not have 1000 sceneries. What happened was that after the file reached 148 scenery entries, the scenery entry numbers jumped from 148 to 900 and as I added more and more sceneries with time, I reached 999 and eventually 1000 when in reality I only have about 100 - 130 sceneries added. My question still stands, however; once the file reaches 1000 scenery entries something happens to the performance of the sim, especially upon loading up that makes it hang.Any additonal comments or observations?Sincerely,Dennis D. Mullert
