button repeat/flashing?

Hi-posted this in hardware but no answer so thought I'd try here.

I've noticed something odd about my keyboard and joystick (TM Warthog) which has always been the case, I finally decided to try and find out what's up. When I press either for whatever command, the screen will flash between what currently appears on the screen and what I want to see (ex. spot view) for a few milliseconds. It's almost like the keyboard press or joystick input sees it as multiple (repeated) commands for a few milliseconds before making the switch. For example, going from the VC down to the FMC in the PMDG Ngx (w/EZDok), this flashing is really evident.

Is there a way to check exactly what is happening here? I can't believe this is standard behavior but ya never know.
