May 13, 200422 yr HII tried out a Radeon ATI 9800 pro after hearing so many good things about it.But I could not get it to play FS9 nicely so I brought it back.It was also a quation of willing to fork out that much cash for what I was getting. Not that much an improvement from my NVidia FXProblem: I uninstalled everything, now my graphics are messed up inasmuch as FS9 is concerned. Very often crahes my puter total.I tried deleting by hand anything with ati prefecx but they seem to re-install themselves anyway after I empty the trashAny one else find this and resolve itI suppose all those that got the ATI 9800 pro kept it...ALlen
May 13, 200422 yr Thats weird. I just reformatted my HDD. and installed the new CAT 4.5 for my 9800 pro. I also threw in the PMDG 6-900 and locked my FPS to 24. it stayed PEGGED at 24. didnt budge. i bet you I can get 40 FPS out of it.
May 13, 200422 yr "I suppose all those that got the ATI 9800 pro kept it..."Yep, most of us love the card. It performs very well.First thing you need to do is gather some tools:Driver Cleaner will do a good job of uninstalling old driver files. Follow the directions in the ReadMe, and you'll be happy with the results:http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/You didn't say what flavor of FX card you have, but I surmise that you went back to it. After running Driver Cleaner try something like RegSeeker to clean any ATI remnants from your registry:http://www.webattack.com/get/regseeker.htmlNext, DiskCleaner is a handy little program for cleaning out temp folders, Internet cache, etc. Use it to rid your system of any ATI installer files:http://www.webattack.com/get/diskcleaner.htmlYou then should disconnect from the Internet to safely install your preferred drivers. Not a bad idea to install your motherboard's chipset drivers as well as DirectX while you're doing all this house cleaning.Too bad about your 9800 Pro. It really is a great card.Good luck,Greg
May 13, 200422 yr Author That was not a real problem.I wanted to uninstall ATI and it went bad, while following standard uninstall procedures of using the installation do it itself. self-unistall sort of.I am getting close to 20 now so I did not like the improvement. As well I was having a multitude of crashes with ATAi installed, from when going fullscreen toi using Alt for the menu pop-up. It was a mess and I had all the new drivers for everything includin my SiS GART.But now I have ATI files all over the place that I cannot remove. I delete an ATI driver, empty the Reccycle Bin and behold the ATI drivers re-install themselves....It is my ATI Nightmare.Allen
