Flying Club Collection?

Featured Replies

Please forgive if this is covered elsewhere, but is this http://www.jr.com/just-flight/pe/JUA_001FLYCC/ a good deal? It appears to combine both Flying Club X and Flying Club 2 for less than the price of even one of these packages on the JustFlight website directly.

Also http://www.jr.com/just-flight/pe/JUA_00137/ , but as noted in another post no support from CS can be expected.

These seem like amazing prices though.

You should be aware that the original Flying Club X is a fairly old product now (2008 if I recall correctly), and whilst it does have a lot of aeroplanes (and a chopper), one should not expect them to look quite as crisp and modern as the kind of thing more recent GA offerings for FSX have demonstrated is possible without creating a slideshow since the advent of more recent multi-cored processor advancements, although of course the upside of this is that most of the Flying Club 1 and indeed 2 aircraft run like greased lightning in FSX as far as FPS is concerned, since they were conceived when we were still lucky to have core duo processors.

I have both Flying Club X and a couple of the Flying Club 2 aircraft (bought as individual products from JF), and I do quite like them, especially the Beechcraft Duchess 76, which has a working Century IV autopilot, although it is worth noting that stuff like MILVIZ, Real Air and Carenado's GA aeroplanes have prettier and more crisp interior and exterior modeling than most Flying Club add-ons exhibit. That bundled FC 1 and 2 deal is a lot of bang for your bucks though, so if you do want a hangar full of lots of different GA aeroplanes, it'll certainly give you that for not a lot of cash.

I would however recommend just taking a look at the many screenshots available at Just Flight's website to make sure you will be satisfied with the visuals, which are not bad, but as I say, not quite on par with the kind of thing we've come to expect in recent months.

Where the CS ones are concerned. I'd have to say that it would not be my choice to buy a CS product via Just Flight, and especially not the 757, which has been the subject of a number of updates and continues to be so. The CS C-130 is a great add-on, not quite 100 percent authentic, but pretty damn close in most respects, and its interior and exterior modeling and animations are among some of the best of any FS add-on (I have in fact bought that twice, both for FS9 and FSX, it's that good), but again, I'd buy it via CS directly if I were you, for the same reason. Can't comment on the airport package though, since I don't have that one.

Thanks for your review. I did take a look and while I agree they are not up to Carenado or RealAir standards, I think they will suit me fine. I found out about this because I was looking for a Piper Tomahawk model (I used to fly this in RW a long time ago and brings back fond memories), and JF appears to have the only payware/decent model out there. Then, I found the "Flying Club Collection" (oddly not sold directly on the JF website) which gives 7 planes + 2 helicopters for less than the price of a single carenado or realair plane, and only $10 more than the standalone tomahawk, so a pretty good deal. Also, it looks like maybe some of the graphics were updated in 2010 or 2011? Not sure about this though.

Yup, I'm not quite so demanding as most people where VC graphics are concerned; as long as they look pretty good, I'm happy, and I've been more than satisfied with what the FC aircraft offer in terms of VCs - they look okay to me. I just thought I'd mention it in case you were of the ilk to demand everything be super-duper up to the finest standards available.
