Opening view

I have never had a problem selecting the opening view when firing up FSX. I select the AC I want, and then the outside spot view, and then save it as the default flight. Recently, the opening view has become the VC, which I did not select before saving the default flight. I repeatedly select the spot view, save it as the default flight and repeatedly, I still get the VC on the opening screen. What's going on here?
