May 15, 200422 yr There are some issues with the FS Genesis landclass and FScene. There's an issue with one tree textures (FSGenesis landclass calls upon a texture not contained in the FScene USA&Canada package). I also saw an abundance of golf courses in WA and OR but maybe they have an abundance of golf courses there :)The mesh from FS Genesis is 100% compatible with FScene because they deal with completely different things (elevataion data vs terrain textures) -
May 15, 200422 yr so what do you recommend? install genesis first, then fs scene?Or the other way around? Or just use one or the other?
May 15, 200422 yr It shouldn't matter which order you install them in.If you're only installing the Mesh products, you don't need to worry about compatibility with FScene. They are 100% compatible. If you install the landclass as well (separate product), you'll need to try it yourself and see if you can live with the admittedly small incompatibilities between FScene and the FSGenesis landclass. -

May 17, 200422 yr Landclass (and waterclass) can be very subjective and there will often be the inevitable incompatibilities - IF you choose to Not install Landclass then you will be left with the "default" which is generally recognised as somewhat "lacking"To some extent it depends upon the author as to whether or not he/she arranges the default textures OR creates their own which can be a TREMENDOUS projectIt becomes a matter of choice and how well one "knows" an area - sometimes "small" landclass files by individuals that are familiar with an area is a potentially better option - but not always and the "installation" of landclass can cause "problems" IF you are not used to manual installationsAll a matter of choice
May 18, 200422 yr FSG landclass uses some textures from Europe and maybe elsewhere to compensate for things that Justin couldn't find in the US texture set in the original FS textures. It also (ab)uses textures from the original set for different purposes. When replacing the textures with FScene you will replace those original textures with different ones that may or may not look right when used in the context of non-standard landclass.Personally I don't see non-FScene textures show up using 3rd party landclass but I have every FScene product currently on the market installed (I help Ruud with testing and support).Currently I'm not using custom landclass. I did so heavily in FS2002 but haven't (yet) taken the trouble to find good 3rd party landclass optimised for FS2004 (FS2002 landclass doesn't look quite right in FS2004 and doesn't of course make use of all the new options that FS2004 provides for landclass and ground texturing).Using FScene together with any mesh is no problem at all. Your scenery will look better than ever in fact, so much so that you might not even want replacement landclass again.http://hornet.demon.nl/screenshots/southam...picture026.htmlhttp://hornet.demon.nl/screenshots/peru/picture192.htmlhttp://hornet.demon.nl/screenshots/peru/picture214.html(FSGenesis Andes mesh with FScene South America).http://hornet.demon.nl/screenshots/southam...picture002.html(Caracas, Venezuela).
