June 15, 201213 yr I'm not sure if just any FSX expert will be able to answer my question. It may take someone who's very familiar with this specific addon (fsx_maui_lc.zip), but I thought I'd ask anyway. I also sent an email to the author of the scenery... I have noticed that in some areas I get a HUGE drop in FPS (from ~30fps to about 10-15 fps). The area I've found this to be most noticeable at is Kapalua airport, but only if I'm facing the mountains. If my view is facing anywhere from the coast to the southwest, out to Lanai, Molakai, or up the coast to the northeast, my fps are rock steady at 30 (even in areas with lots of custom buildings placed). As soon as I look over to the mountains, I get a huge drop and stutters. Without this addon scenery, I get smooth 30 fps with autogen and complexity set to extremely dense (I also get 30 fps flying over ORBX PNW with these settings). I found that lowering autogen settings did little to improve FPS, but lowering scenery complexity to below normal seemed to resolve the issue. However, at that setting, most of the custom buildings were gone and the scenery wasn't quite as impressive. I'm trying to figure out if there is a way I can continue using this scenery without the FPS loss. I should start by saying I don't know anything about scenery editing in FSX. My understanding (which isn't very good, to be honest) is that the scenery complexity setting affects custom placed objects. Since there isn't anything in the direction I'm looking when I get the FPS drop other than trees, I'm wondering if the autogen trees in the West Maui Mountains have been replaced with trees placed as objects...? If that is the case, can I simply remove some of the exclusion files and new scenery files associated with trees to get autogen trees and resolve the issue? What specific files that would be? Or, if I'm way off target, is there something else that my help resolve the issue? Thanks!
