June 18, 201213 yr Hey guys, I'm using FSX with ASE. First of all I'd like to mention great product..... could never fly without it on FS9. Most recently I'm using ASE with FSX (I'm using the same installation I did with FS9 including the latest Upgrades, etc...). I'm using DWC as these weather updates stutters and pauses were driving me crazy on ground (even though I disabled everything that had to do with updates). Then I changed to DWC, which eliminated the stutters, but I the other day I had a surface wind speed of 72 kts in EDDF, even though ASE was reporting 5 kts or so. Today I came into LOWW. ASE reported 210/6, LOWW ATIS in FSX reported 190/7 and the actual winds in FSX were 221/18.... ??????? I hadn't noticed these innaccuracies(sp?) before using DWC.... I would like a combination of nearly correct surface winds (ASE report vs. actual FSX winds) without those "pause-stutters-updates" (at least on the ground and below 10,000ft... I don't care if it happens during cruise). Any ideas?? Am I missing something?? Thanks in advance Best Regards, Amadeo Amadeo Araujo
June 21, 201213 yr Author I'm currently fooling around with the Settings, but I thought of something. Could it be that ASE on DWC has some problems when using fast simulation rates (x2, x4, etc...)?? Amadeo Araujo
June 28, 201213 yr Can you clarify where you are getting the readings from? My impression is that if you use 122.02 on your Com radio to get destination weather from ASX, what you get is the weather at your destination but at YOUR CURRENT ALTITUDE. That's different to what you'll see if you look at the ASX Weather Report page, which genuinely shows wind at ground level. Also, I think the AI lock to assist approach planning by freezing destination wind at ground level to that which applied when you took off can cause some inconsistencies.
