Need help with Weight & Balance (Real life)

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I am in serious need of some help with my weight and balance arm calculation for my stage 2 check tomorrow. I've spent the past 2 hours planning 3 flights, calculating distances, speeds etc and now I'm so tired I am having complete blanks about how to get the arm and moment. I've obviously put in the given numbers that is in the POH and it is as follows.

Basic Empty Weight - 1590lbs

Arm - 87.5

Moment - 139125

Now I'm trying to get the arm for passenger weights, baggage etc but I forgot how to get it. And for me to get the moment I need to multiply the weight by the arm. Aghhh!

Would love some help if I can get any. I'm flying the Piper III

Thank you!

A Warrior III?

No matter... you need to look at the plane's Airplane Flight Manual (the specific POH for the plane you are flying) and flip thru Section 6 until you get to a chart that lists the Arm for each station you need.

Make absolutely certain you copy the numbers precisely.
