June 21, 201213 yr Hi there, As the headline says, I've got a problem with FSX lights.. The problem is that the lights (strobe and beacon etc.) is ligthing rapid/fast/instant (choose your self) As I saw this forum, I now BEGGING for help :( Please someone help me ASAP. Many regards, Capt. Zyraz.
June 21, 201213 yr Is it the default FSX aircraft? Or imported FS9? Or an addon. This link might help - http://forum.avsim.net/topic/67062-lights-blinking-way-too-fast/. Best regards, Jim
June 21, 201213 yr Author Hi Jim, thanks for your reply. It's WHOLE AI traffic, and the User-aircraft aswell :(
June 21, 201213 yr Default AI? Most likely it's an addon you installed that's not working properly. If that link I provided above does not help, then you'll need to uninstall FSX, then reinstall unless someone else comes here and has a better solution. Sorry I cannot help further. Best regards, Jim
June 22, 201213 yr Author It all happened after I installed the package "Fly the Boeing 787 Dreamliner" by Abacus. (purchased not downloaded!) Any idea? I've now uninstalled the whole 787 package - but still problem. if I have to reinstall FSX, then what about my AI-traffic and my aircrafts? :(
June 26, 201213 yr Might be worth trying a FSX repair - stick your original disk in (or Acceleration, if that's what you have installed) and choose the repair option. Not tried it so your mileage may vary. Certainly worth a go before trying a full reinstall. Also, do you have e.g. Shockwave's lights installed? Might be worth un/re-installing those. Searching here doesn't show a lot apart from what's already been posted, above. Sorry! Paul Skol
June 26, 201213 yr I agree with Paul. Somehow the files affecting lights in the Effects folder were deleted. This is a common occurrence as there are some software addons that replace the Microsoft default fx files for their program. When you go to uninstall that program, it also deletes the fx files leaving you with no lights. The only change I recommend from Paul is that you insert the FSX disk and select repair when the option comes up. Once the repair is completed, then insert the Acceleration disk and run the repair. Of course, if you have the FSX Gold edition, you'll only have to do a repair with all of those disks (think that's what Paul meant). You're going to get a new FSX.cfg and scenery.cfg so you may need to add the scenery you installed back into the Scenery Library or reinstall those addons or backup your scenery.cfg (located in C:\Program Data\Microsoft\FSX)(hidden folder) and then restore it after the repairs are accomplished. Best regards, Jim
