June 23, 201213 yr Hey, Now before you go one about how I should read the guide, I have. At the moment I run the bufferpools with a reject threshold instead of not using them at all because the artifacts without them are absolutely shocking. So currently I have the RT at about 150,000 and my GPU only ever peaks at 99 for small amounts of time (1 for about 10 minutes) and the rest its at around 90. It used to work at around 95,000 very well but then i increased the CPU clock to 4.7 again and it just got worse. So do I need to keep raising the RT? June 23, 201213 yr If getting artifacts, usually either lowering CPU clock or increasing RT is going to solve the issue.
June 23, 201213 yr Author OK, so I have to keep going up. Interesting considering that Ryan said the 130,000 odd would be a good start. Just a sort of opinion I am asking for here Word Not Allowed, would you say its better to have a higher CPU clock with higher RT, or lower CPU clock with lower RT? June 23, 201213 yr Author I am just wondering if its really worth raising it so high, I have raised it to about 190000 which is 100000 more than what I had and I still have artifacts. and the water settings are at high 2x as well Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. June 23, 201213 yr Andrew, as I tested the RT and had no real pleasing results, I didn't really test it extensively. I tried what was suggested, going up and down testing, but I didn't write it up or did an analysis. So I can't really help you (read: it wouldn't be correct for me to make any statements here).
June 24, 201213 yr Author Thanks anyway. For me its still much better than having BP=0 even though I think I have a pretty strong GPU. I may contact Ryan about it. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern
June 24, 201213 yr Yeah, Ryan is the right person to talk about when it comes to RT. Unfortunately, running RT, no matter the number, doesn't give me performance any similar to running BP=0, thus I opted for BP=0 only.
