Meljet 747-400 Problems!!! Please Help!!!!!

Featured Replies

Hello Gang! For some reason, every time I execute a takeoff in the Meljet 747-400 and I engage the autopilot after takeoff, the aircraft starts gyrating in the opposite direction of the heading bug and eventually enters a type of spin that eventually makes the aircraft plunge to the ground.I have tried several panel to ano avail. Has anyone ever encountered this anomaly and how can I fix it?Thanks in advance!Sincerely,Dennis D. Mullert

I think it is the airfile and aircraft.cfg not suited to fs9 (if that's the sim you are running). I installed a Meljet Virgin Airlines 747-400 a while back and only recently realised there was something wrong. Today I have been through both the above files and compared with the default 747-400. After making several changes it seems much more under control. Could even become a favourite for me. I may make further changes later but already it seems a big improvement. I tried not long ago to find the Meljet website and it was down, with a message to the effect of being back soon. I don't know how long that had been for. While I'm on the subject would there be much interest in modified files for the Meljet 747-400 for anyone, since there don't seem to be any out there? Although minor text changes to the aircraft.cfg would be required for different liveries. Can anyone advise whether modifying the files would infringe on the copyright or should I just keep it to myself? Although it seems that most of the contents of the 2 files are based on the defaults.

Hello Charlie! Thanks for your reply!I agree with you. After much research, I have come to the conclusion that the airfile for the Meljet 747 has not been updated for FS2004. One thing I found out is that the POSKY airfiles work very well with the Meljet 747's while being used in conjunction with the Meljet .cfg file. There's still a little bit of an issue with the Yaw Damper settings in the .cfg file, which I have been tinkering with for the last 2 days. I've noticed that during the takeoff roll, the Meljet 747 tends to roll to the left and gyrate opposite direction of the A/P heading bug until the aircraft eventually crashes. This issue seems to have been corrected with the POSKY air files, but I still think that some thigns have to be tweaked on the Meljet .cfg file in order to get the 747 to fly well in 2004.Another piece of advice!!!! Do not use the POSKY .cfg file with the Meljet 747 because it causes the aircraft to sink into the ground and other things such as the spoilers, not to work. The Meljet .cfg file appears to work better.Hope this helps!Sincerely,Dennis D. Mullert

Hello Dennis, Interesting stuff. I'll persist with the files I have for now and see how it goes. At the moment I need to adjust the wheels height as when I load the plane and start the sim it makes a noise like the wheels touching down. Should be easy to fix.

Hey Charlie! If you can, can you send me the .air and .cfg files you are using so I can test them and see if they work better? You can send them to [email protected] man!Sincerely,Dennis D. Mullert

Hi Dennis, I have sent the files by email to you. Having now worked on the wheels height I'm quite pleased with the result.
