Clouds and horizon question

Featured Replies

Kinda 2 questions here...Here goes, I have my visibility set to 40nm and my cloud draw distance to 50nm or 60nm. Yet I still get those obscure grey clouds in the distance that are constantly flickering and dancing around. Also I thought if I set my visibility to 40nm, the horizon it self would be somewhat covered by a slight haze. But my horizon is just a straight line, which kinda looks bad.I recently built a new systemm here are the specs:P4 3.2ghzASUS FX5900 128mbASUS P4C800-E Deluxe mobo w/ onboard sound512MB RAM2 80GB Caviar SE drivesWith the new setup I am just getting used to it, and am trying to tweak it to the point where it is gorgeous to fly with. If you guys have any ideas I am completely open to your input!!

Jason,I don't lose the distinct horizon line until I reduce visibility to 30 miles or less.John

Switch your cloud type to 100pct 3-d--the "imposter" clouds tend to cause the issue you describe. You also will get improved performance if you scale back the cloud draw distance...As for haze, try out various dates in the sim. Jun 07, 03 is one I use a lot. Different dates will have a hazier look than others in the sim--it gives the flying environment more of a random appearance. Only exception I've seen is at dawn and dusk looking to the horizon--then it is pretty sharply defined... Regards,-John
