Poor FSX Performance

Featured Replies

Guys,

I am totally frustrated with my new PC's performance. See specs below. I love FSX and VATSIM flying. I wanted better performance so sprung for a new PC. I loaded FSX and fired it up and was dissapointed by the marginal improvement. My FPS (via ctrl z) went from 8-20 to 10-25. Not much better considering the expense.

I tried the VSYNC FIX - Windowed Mode from this forum. No noticable change.

So, after doing research I decided to add another ATI HD6850 CrossFire. Fired everything up and.. not much change. Redid the VSYNC FIX..no change. Average FPS is about 18.

I've read tons of forum posts and other articles that have not helped with lots of contadictory suggestions.

Should I OC the processor, the video card?

What to do?

Thanks!

Another question: Is frame rate display in FSX always right? Sometimes I have a very smooth display even though the frame rate is 8-20. Is there another way to compute fps?

Thanks!

Hey keep in mind that many simmers reported that if you are using crossfire for fsx it is kind of useless because fsx only use one graphic card not two . Also no need to overclock yet . My old computer runs one AMD RADEON 6850 Card An Has AMD Phenom II 4 Quad core which is at 3.5 Hz, an i can really say it run fsx like a charm better than i expected . I have spend hundreds of dollars on this new computer i have an to be honest it runs fsx pretty much alike with my old computer. Just a few better changes like in graphic a little since i have now a latest graphic card. Don't give up on your new computer to me its great an you FPS improve . You have a way better computer than my old one so am sure that if my FPS on Payware aircraft was at 15 to 30 FPS inside the VC an outside the aircraft it was 40 to 60FPS, am sure yours can go much higher judging from the spec's you posted. Am going to give you something a friend of mines from REX Essential give me that help me tune up my old computer an my current computer that i have right now. He likes to called it FSX Bible. It is a guide that will help you tune up FSX safe an really good. Also you will learn a lot from what not to do or what to do . If you fallow his instruction trust me you will get better performance in FSX i have read it an try it .
