Another problem TU-134 fuel and stopping engine

Featured Replies

Hello,

after my reinstall the trim is working but a new problem has arrisen. The engine frequently stop during all different phases of flight, from take off to cruise to descent. They suddenly spool down to 0% and I have to start the apu again to get it going.

Could it have something to do with fuel management? There is a switch on the fuel part of the panel that I believe is an automatic fuel management system switch. Before the reinstall I could have that on or off but know if I switch it on before starting the engines they won't start, and if I switch it on after engines have been started the engines shut down.

What do all the fuel switches do? It seems that when I check the fuel qty number 1 and 3 was empty, could that be the cause?

Anyone else had this problem, and knows of a fix?

I experimented a bit and most of the flights I get it to work with the automatic fuel transfer system but sometimes not. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

In what order do you load the fuel tanks, center tanks as last as on most other jets?

Take a look here:

Switch locations and brief start up instructions

Are you sure you're following the correct procedures?

Also which version of the SCS Tu-134 are you using? v1.0 or v1.2

I'm still using the v1.0 and haven't flown the SCS plane for a while now. I haven't encountered any of the problems you're describing. You're not trying to run her in FSX are you? Plane was developed for FS9, so in FSX there may be issues.

Hi,

I'm using FS9 and it's the 1.2 version.

The last couple of flights it seems to be working, not sure why, I have followed the procedures from your link the entire time. The only difference is in the way I load the fuel, (in the last flights I haven't had any fuel in the center tank).

The smaller centre fuel tank (No. 1) on the Tu-154 is vital to be completely filled up as all the fuel from the other tanks passes through here before it goes to the engines. So in the Project Tupolev Tu-154 if you take fuel out of this one when setting up your fuel load in FS9 - it will give an alarm on systems start up.

I'm not sure about the fuel tank set up on the Tu-134 but it's probably similar - I can't remember it right now and I haven't flown my SCS v1 for a long while (oddly enough a quick Google search hasn't given me any Tu-134 fuel system diagrams either).

So if you're taking most of the fuel out of center (No.1 tank) it may be causing you issues due to the above mentioned situation with the Tu-154. Try flying with a full tank in center No. 1 and if you want to take fuel out do it in equal amounts from the wing tanks - they are the ones that carry most of the fuel anyway.

At any rate I'm still with the SCS Tu-134 v1 and the problem you are having may be something specific to v1.2;

I'll try to install v1.2 and do some tests with it, but there's very little free time I have and I'm not exactly sure when I'll be able to do it. If you continue to have problems hopefully someone more familiar with the SCS Tu-134 v1.2 can answer your question in the mean time.

As a final point are you also making sure to flip on the Automatic fuel transfer switch (No. 40 on the overhead panel)? Make sure not to use the manual fuel transfer switches (No.41 and 42). The other switches that need to be on are No 56 and 61 to set the fuel pumps on automatic (left and right) and No 57, 58, 59 and 60 for all the fuel pumps.

Hello again!

Thank you for your effort and I think I've must been doing something wrong with the fuel tank switches, now I make sure I do it the way you have described it above and I haven't had the problem again on any of my last flights.

Hopefully the problem won't arrise again, thank you for your effort in helping me out!
