Off-topic but affecting my flights

Hello, I have noticed two Network Connection icons in my Windowx XP Home Edition Control panel. I have tried to right on both of them to see if I can remove/delete but to no avail. Also, I am sure they are not a shortcut of the other (if you know what I mean). I don't know if this is the reason why I am having trouble to connect to online to check for weather in FS2004.These icons are exactly the same and they point to the same connection, I am a Road Runner subscriber and went online to check for solution but they don't have a clue how to solve this problem for me. They have suggeted me to contact MS...Can you please help...Juliet Lima

Hi:)I have that icon in my Windows XP.It says Local Area Connection? Is this the one u mean??Mark.

When you double-click on the Control Panel, Network Connection, it opens the Network Connections page. The network connections page shows a LAN or High-Speed Internet section at the top. Under this should be a Local Area Connection, Dial-up Connection, etc., depending on the type of internet connection. If you have two instances of the Network Connection and it points you to the same page, then don't worry about it.If you are using Internet Explorer, select Tools, Internet Options..., Connections Tab. If you used a Dial-up before the high speed, click on any Dial-up entires and remove them. Also check the box "Never Dial a connection".Next, rename your fs9.cfg file to fs9.OLD. Restart fs2004, let it stabilize to the Main Flight Simulator Menu, Select Create a Flight, click on the weather menu item, select download weather, OK. If it now works, the problem is with your OLD FS9.cfg file. If it still doesn't work, exit fs2004. Delete the new fs9.cfg file and rename fs9.OLD to fs9.cfg.If you have a LAN, make sure all computers are in the same workgroup. Press Start, Control Panel, System, select Computer Name tab, and review the Workgroup: name, i.e., MSHOME, WORKGROUP, etc.. All computer should be on the same workgroup.W. Sieffert
