Lights

Featured Replies

I recently installed the Geof b33 and the FS9 update for it. The plane looks good and seems to fly correctly but I can not get the lights to work. I have landing lights and panel lights in 2D vision but nothing else. I have no panel lights in 3D vision and no nav. lights, no strobe or beacon. Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do to correct the problem? I E-Mailed James Eaden but never received an answer. Thanks Chuck

Hello Chuck,I am the author of the FS9 update. I just checked out the plane. I had NAV, Beacon, and 2D Panel lights. The strobes switch(or press 'O' on your keyboard) didn't do what I thought it would, instead it turned the lighting on in the VC. When in the VC I could also see the flash of the beacon, but not while in the 2D panel view. At any rate, other than the strobe turning the VC lights on and off rather than turning strobes on, it seems to be working ok for me. I can see the VC lights go on and off while in the VC or while I'm in spot view(I tested during night time).I'm thinking there must be a configuration problem of some sort on your end. I hope you installed everything correctly. You can try making sure you lights are sychronized properly by pressing 'L' on your keyboard twice. Press it a third time and ALL the lights should be on, NAV, Beacon, 2D Panel, and VC lights. Just a quick question, when and where did you download the original Geoff Beech B33 from? Here's some screenshots ;-)B33 - Spot View VC Lights Offhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/79582.jpgB33 - Spot View VC Lights Onhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/79583.jpgB33 - VC Lights Offhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/79584.jpgB33 - VC Lights Onhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/79585.jpgHope that helps,Jim

I downloaded the original file from avsim about a month ago but just now got a chance to try to install it. I E-Mailed Geof about installation of the original file and installation of the FS9 update but what he told me was very basic. I unzipped the guage file and put it in the b33 panel file. Maybe that is my problem. Thanks Chuck

GeofAI tried opening the guage folder selecting all and dropping them in the FS9 guage folder. I still get the same results with the lights. What about the these three zipped files in the guage folder should they be put in the FS9 guage folder as zipped or should they be unzipped. They are b33 simicons, Deb, and ATC_ID. I put them in in zipped format I was not sure how they were to go in.Thanks Chuck

Those should be cab files-not zipped files-they get put in exactly as they are.I would not think however the lights would have anything to do with any of those.I suspect the cause is elsewhere but really don't have a clue.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg

I am wondering if you dragged all the folders from the B33 download into your fs main directory? In the zipped file are folders aircraft, effects, gauges, and sound. If you didn't put the effects folder in your main fs directory (has all the lighting effects in it) this could be what is causing you not to have lights.I hope that fixes it for you-after that I am out of ideas.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg

GeofA,Thanks for all the help. It was indeed the fact that I had not moved the effects files into my FS9 effects folder. Everything works fine now. Again thanks for a great plane and for your help.Chuck
