Possible clue to the C182RG prop reversed sound problem

Featured Replies

For a long time now I've been trying to fix a problem in the Cessna 182RG. The sound that you hear when the prop lever is moved is reversed, in other words it sounds fine when it's in the coarse position and vice versa. I've uploaded a video to Youtube which demonstrates the error.

Today I tried something new. I copied the C210 air file over to the C182RG folder and pointed the aircraft.cfg file to it. And guess what? The prop behaviour suddenly became normal! When the prop lever was pushed to the fine position, the engine sound became faster and higher pitched, and when the lever was moved back to coarse, the pitch dropped.

This indicates that the problem lies in the air file maybe.

My question now is... are there any air file experts who could take a look at the two air files and attempt to discover why one behaves properly and the other doesn't? I've had a look around both files with AircraftAirfilemanager but I can't see any thing that is obvious.

I can forward the air files if required. I tried uploading a zip with the two files but it won't let me.

No expert at all, have this aircraft and will look at it as don't fly it a lot as thought the sound wasn't very good anyway. What I have found with doing a mod on the 206 Cargo pod version is that understanding how the config file is put together by looking at the MSDK page, you can quickly see where errors are, it may be something so simple as a typo.

So is there a fix for this?
