CRJ next generation FMS not locking onto course

Featured Replies

Hi all, I have had the airplane for about a month, many things are very tempermental with this plane, I have overcome most of them by much experimentation & hair pulling. I have a really weird problem with the FMS locking onto the flight path, when at intercept & the FMS control is the active I get FMS displayed on the PD in white but when it is at intercept it switchs to heading & thats the end of the FMS control for the flight. I have, after lots of experimentation found that if I reload the flight & go through the entire TO procedure, including resetting the init pos at the threshold of the runway I get the FMS to work perfectly until the next time!!! Any ideas at all would be greatly aprieciated. I have twice uninstalled the aircraft & reinstalled it but it makes no difference, same problem. It seems almost like it is still on the old flight plan even though I put the new airport in the computer at the end of each flight which I thought would clear the old flight plan. Thanks in advance, Desmond

Hi All, just for information if anyone else experiences this problem, I have figured through experimentation that this problem was caused by the FMS not deleting the flight plan after it has been completed, if you go into the FMS flight plan & delete it the FMS, autopilot LNAV works 100%. Hope this saves some frustration for others.
