August 31, 201213 yr I just want to say that ActiveSky Evolution Hurricane is awesome, however there are a few bugs: 1.) The Hurricane acts as a super weather station and seems to misbehave when it gets in range of weather stations that the user might select as a departure or destination, as it seems to cause a conflict and wipes the weather out or in a worse case causes ASE to stop working and crash. 2.) With hurrican systhesis there seems to be a 27,000 foot hard coded visibility threshold. What I mean to say is that if the user is within range of the hurricane and goes below 27,000 feet then the whole area is fogged up and hard to see, even though the report says that the ceiling is lower, say 15,000 feet. I saw this behavior on both Hurricans Isaac and Ileana. For example on Illeana when I looked at the Hurricane Report by mousing over the hurrican in ASE, it reported a ceiling of 15,000 feet. I expected to fly above 15,000 feet and maintain visibility. When I got within range of hurricane Illeana I lost visibilty in a fog that popped out of now where. When I climbed above 27K, I regained visibility and saw the ceiling way below my aircraft. It would be great if the visibilty was consistant with the ceiling. I did try to disable the fog checkbox and played with visibility graduation and smoothing ALL to no avail. Thanks, Scott
September 4, 201213 yr Commercial Member If you have a cloud ceiling of 15000 ft and tops to 30 to 40 you should expect not to see anything until you are under 15000 AGL. The ceiling is measured from ground level up to the lowest point of the cloud structure. Regards, Dave Opper HiFi Support Manager
