Unable to Transfer Camera Configuration Data

Featured Replies

I have four networked systems. All of the systems are 64-bit Windows 7 boxes, and each client can successfully connect to the server. I can create and manipulate cameras on each of the clients from the server -- I just cannot save any of the cameras, which makes the whole thing rather pointless. Whenever I click the 'Save All Cameras' button I get an error dialog box that says "Unable to transfer camera configuration data across to system <CLIENTNAME>" (where <CLIENTNAME>" is one of my client display systems -- the problem is occurring with all clients. I have the networks options defined exactly as specified in the "getting started" manual. I'm at a complete loss as to how to proceed.

Any suggestions?

Hi Mark

This is a simple one and I think I have answered it before somewhere. Basically you must set up your drive sharing, security, permissions etc. as described in the Getting Started guide so that the systems can access each other BOTH ways. After you edit cameras and click on Save, the server must be able to write the new CAM file across onto the client system. It is most probably being blocked by your system's security so the file copy fails, hence the 'Unable to transfer camera configuration data across to system <CLIENTNAME>' (you probably already have, but use client computer names not IP addresses).

You may have set all the network options as per the Getting Started guide but this procedure must be repeated on ALL systems, on your server and all of your clients. OpusFSX requires accesss both ways, server to client, and client to server.

This should sort things out for you.

Stephen

Further info ...

You will find your configured camera definition files for your client systems stored in the c:\OpusFSX installation folder on your server system, they are named,

<CLIENTNAME>.CAM

When you click Save the server program attempts to transfer (file copy) this file into your client system's c:\OpusFSX folder. But when yo set up your system just share and set permissions on your whole client drive. If you still have problems transfering the file then check the sharing and permissions etc. on the actual folder. Don't forget your other Advanced Sharing Settings on all your systems.

I ended up needing to share the entire C: drive on all clients to allow the camera configuration data to be written (just sharing C:\OpusFSX didn't work, even though I could copy the config data manually from a command shell using

cd c:\OpusFSX

copy <clientname>.cam \\<clientname>\OpusFX

...but at least it's working now.

I have an additional problem that I'll post separately since it's unrelated to sharing.
