Posky 330

I have had FS2002 for over a year now and have never been able to have a decent A-330. I have tried Flightcraft

Leo,I don't fly so high with the A330 so I cannot share in your experience. However, I use FS2004 and never had issues with accelerating easily to 325KIAS at FL220.With all the dozens of A330 versions and FDEs available out there, it is sometimes confusing to find the right plane for you. Make sure your FDE (the aircraft.cfg and the .air files in the root of the A330 folder for POSKY) are the FS2002 versions as the latest FDE from POSKY is for 2004 only. You may have accidentally installed the FS2004 versions of the aircraft and .air files (the FDEs).Hope this helps.John

I have tried old and new FDE, FS2004, and now as it should be FS2002 (more than one AC), but I had similar results.Like I said before, any older AC, such as the 757 or 767 have better performance than the 330.Leo

I've sometimes run into this when aircraft have too high a value set for "inlet_area" in the aircraft.cfg.But there are so many factors to shuffle when getting flight profiles--takeoff, climb, cruise, descent--down, that any of a number of factors could be causing the performance issues you're seeing.Just for kicks, try reducing inlet area by half, and see if that improves climb/cruise performance. If it improves it partially, but not enough--try cutting the value in half again. It's not the "right" way to tweak a profile, but it does produce fair results with a minimal impact on other factors such as drag, fuel burn, etc....-John

Are you SURE that this is the FS2004 version?Sorry but, are you sure you are flying correctly? Remember to gain speed you basically level off, speed is more important than VS. Also, you say the pitch thing, the A330 is at about a 4degree nose up pitch on landing, so you have to calculate Vref to get this speed, its a bit harder than jsut guessing at 160 or 140kts. If you are like me and can't be bothered working it out just put the plane onto the glideslope, and then slow down slowly until the AOA is at about 4 degrees. I'm sure it's not that bad, as I don't see many people complaining about it. I personally haven't flown it, but im guessing its more accurate than your making it sound

The version is FS2002, since I use FS2002.I would say that yes, I am flying correctly. I fly almost every jetliner that exists or existed. I am affiliated to a virtual airline which tests your skills by recording some of your flights and only approves you to fly certain AC once you pass those tests, which include navigation, taking off, climbing, descent and landing performance. The performance of the 330 in my FS is the worse of any AC I fly, even comparing it with a 707 or a DC-8. Like I said I had to increase the thrust to almost its double so the AC could reach FL350 at 260 IAS and then get to Mach .8 in less than 5 minutes (something I expect from any modern airliner when the tanks are at 40%) and I climbing not faster than 1000 ft/min after FL300.Regarding the pitch, it is unthinkable to expect that the A-330 would have a performance similar to a 747, but in my FS they do. You're right, normally my pitch is 4/5 degrees, and with fuel at less than 15% the only AC that needs to go faster than 150 IAS to keep that pitch on final is the 747. But it seems the A-330 also needs that speed, since at 140 IAS it almost has a 10 degree pitch!!! And it's tanks are at less than 15%. It seems to be a problem related to Flaps, but wouldn't be able to know which. You're also right I haven't seen many complaints about this AC. It might be something related to my FS, but all the other ACs that I have perform really well...Thanks,Leo

Leo--Have you tried my suggestion?-John

I think it's your weight. With FS2002 FDE's, POSKY reckons the aircraft's empty weight based on the aircraft's operational empty weight PLUS passenger and baggage. This means that if you load 100% fuel, you were be much heavier than MTOW.Don't load more than 80% fuel or else you will be over MTOW. Either that or change the weight of the plane yourself in the aircraft.cfgThe FS2004 POSKY A330 FDE uses the operational empty weight of the plane and weight stations that are editable in the sim to determine the aircraft's weight.

Can somebody help? I really love the posky model but have been unable to get the gauges working correctly in FS9! It keeps showing "gauge by..." but it does not disappear! this happens in the VC and 2d panel but I always fly in the VC. Help! i cant see my speed or altitude at all! Anyone?

John, Thanks for your help. I did a couple of changes to the aircraft.cfg and finally I got the A-330 flying decently. I reduced the inlet area from 50 something to 40. Albaro,How didn't I think about that? It made a lot of sense there was a problem with the weight. I checked the Airbus web page and the aircraft.cfg was a little too heavy (mostly the empty weight value), so I wrote the right value and yesterday I had a beautiful landing at 140 knots with very little pitch.Alex,If the problem you have is a gauge, then your problem is the panel. Probably one of the gauges of the panel you have is not compatible with FS9 and produces the crash. Try installing another panel, and make sure it is FS9 compatible.ThanksLeo

This is all stock! I installed the STOCK posky model, added the VC, and I don't get any working gauges! They appear, but do not move. I tried also installing the mods for the a330 panel detailed on their message boards but still no luck. What panel are you using and do the gauges display in the VC?Thanks for the reponse
