What might induce a stall warning on takeoff ? Would 'early' A/P or excessive climb be a factor ?

Yes! Improper aircraft speeds and configurations. Weight, flaps settings, OAT, runway lengths, throttle settings etc. Know the aircraft. AP, get use to hand flying to 1500 ft.
