June 30, 200421 yr Mike, did a little test ride, experienced the speed overshoot at the beginning of LVL/CH as well (+30kts from 10000-16000ft @ 300kts, +10kts from 16000-22000ft), seems to be worse at lower levels. I'm confused that A/THR kicks in early in your case, I've THR mode just until ALT* engages, then my flight leveled off perfectly.Tried some turns at FL220 right now (SPD|ALT|HDG/S), altitude oscillates +-50ft, that's acceptable.Don't want to discount your experience, maybe the beast even performs differently on different machines. I'm still having a hard time getting the takeoff modes right, but that's maybe due to the non-adapted documentation. It talks about clutching/latching of the levers, don't know exactly how that translates into the sim.
June 30, 200421 yr >Really annoying is the WAY TOO OLD navigation database,>they've not come around incorporating the latest AIRAC cycles.>I don't know what the problem is, as the SSW nav DB is a>simple Microsoft Access database with an amazingly simple data>model. With a decent ETL tool it should be a breeze to convert>the DAFIF feed into it.That's because they are not using the DAFIF database.
July 1, 200421 yr "Support - ranges from "overwhelmingly helpful" down to "non existant." Much too erratic and emotional, down the line "if you're not nice to me I'm not nice to you." Should get some training on how to deal with complaints in a professional way."Harald,I sure hope your not referring to me on this :-wave If you are, you might want to know the whole story before you make a statement like this. If your not referring to me, disregard. Thanks
July 1, 200421 yr George,I'm talking regular SSW staff, not the superb voluntary work you've been providing.
July 1, 200421 yr Harald, indeed strange the plane shows different behaviour for different users. Although I remember having read about e.g. the altitude hold problem during turn also from others (incl. reviewers, e.g simflight.de).However, I was one who really recommend this product initially, which means I am aware such a complex product takes time. But now still unfinished after one year with all that bogus announcements in their forum, I am really fed up with this. I do not believe anything anymore that comes from official SSW side.Mike
July 1, 200421 yr Thanks Harald,Wish I had some real talent like you do. I only wish I could produce the type of work you and several other very gifted folks in the FS community contribute. I really enjoy your aircraft with the SSW panel.
July 2, 200421 yr It seems to me, that the autopilot sometimes works and other times it doesnt. This panel is frustrating, because it doesnt work perfectly, complicated, or just plain done greatly? I dont know but I will be skeptical if I make another purchase with them.Their Tupolev (spelling?) is already late, it was supposedly going to be released in June 2003 and look its July 2004, and still no word.I wish SSW luck, but their support and staff make it questionable.
