First off - hello everyone, my first post on ere :)I have a really wierd problem with my MS FLight Simulator 2000 Professional.For some strange reason the terrain detail-level is zero when I play. The landscape is just a plain green (like a blank sheet of paper) with absolutely no detail on it.Now here is the strange part:When I click OUTSIDE the simulator with the mouse (for example on the windows taskbar or the desktop) the game pauses and all the terrain detail suddenly appears!!!!So in short: the terrain detail only appears when the sim is paused and is *unselected*. It is a wonder you get much detail with your graphics adapter. I know it would be better in FS2000 than FS2002 or FS2004. FS2002/04 probably wouldn't play on your computer.Rename your fs2000.cfg file to fs2000.OLD, restart FS2000, let it stabilize, select a flight and see if the problem is corrected. If so, you may have had a setting in your old fs2000.cfg file that prevented the detail. If not, delete the new fs2000.cfg and rename fs2000.OLD to fs2000.cfg.Run the directx diagnostic, press Start, Run..., type dxdiag, OK. Let the diagnostic stabilize, review the version installed. The latest version is 9.0b, available from MS Windows Update site. Select the display tab, ensure DirectDraw, Direct3d, and AGP Accelerations are enabled. If grayed-out, reinstall updated MOBO controller chip drivers, i.e., Intel, VIA, SiS, AMD, ALi, NForce. Run the DirectDraw and Direct3d tests and not any errors. You graphics adapter may not run the Directx 8.0 or 9.0 test depending on its capabilities. You might also check for updated drivers for the graphics adapter.W. Sieffert

Thanx wsieffertI will do what u suggested and tell u how it works out!As for FS2004 yes...it will not run on my machine. I will wait till I get a new hi-power laptop before getting that one!FS2000 runs very smooth on this machine and even after I get FS2004 I will keep FS2000 on here...because it can be played with a mouse. Thats my biggest gripe with FS2004 - they removed mouse support! :(Anyway I digress....thanks for your instructions and I will get back on here to tell u how it went! :)

Ok I did all what you told me too...unfortunately the problem persists :(I ran the DirectX tests. I have 9.0b. All the DirectDraw and Direct3D tests passed without any problems.I did drag the fs2000.cfg file into Notepad and examined it. Is there something I could change here to fix the problem? What desktop resolution do you use? Right click the desktop, select properties, select Settings tab, and review the resolution. I noticed in the full screen mode, you haveDevice=ATI RAGE MOBILITY-M1 AGP (English)Mode=640x480x16in your fs2000.cfg file.If you are flying in full screen mode, your settings are very low. Lets say your Windowed Mode (Windows Desktop Resolution) is 800X600X32 and your Full Screen Mode is 640X480X16, there is a big difference in the resolution. You set the full screen mode under FS2000, options, settings, display, hardware tab.You change between Full-Screen and Windowed Modes by pressing ALT+Enter.W. Sieffert

I fixed it! I disabled hardware acceleration and that sorted it out :)Ahhh textures when I fly now...yay yayayayaaaa :)Thanx 4 ure help Wsieffert, much appreciated!And to others with this same problem in FS2000..I hope that the solution works for you too...although Im sure 99% of people on this forum are on FS2002 & 2004!
