Parking Brake does not work

Featured Replies

Hi,I have been adding the RCB Groundhandling gauges to the PSS A320 panel along with ServInfo gauge and now I have not got a Parking brake, on any aircraft.I have checked the assignments, I have deleted FS9.cfg to see if that will sort it.I have a Siatek Evo joystick and CH Pro pedals. When I run FS( the default setting opens with the brakes on, indicated in the bottom left, I can only switch this off with the pedals. Default parking brake (.) does not work neither does the assigned button on the joystick.I can't understand why installing that to one aircraft should affect them all.If you have any ideas or require more info please ask.CheersTerry

Hi Terry,Do you mean to say that even if don't include my gauges in a panel, the Parking Brakes still don't work on the aircraft with that panel ?Even in one the (unmodified) default planes ??I'm 100% sure that it cannot be caused by any of my gauges, since they only read the ParkingBrakes (and not set/reset them). Moreover, if the gauges are not installed in a panel, they are not activated.I do have some suggestions though..And I'm fairly sure it is caused by 1. and 2. :-)Which has nothing to do with my gauges, your stick or your aircraft but only with the fact that you are using toebrakes pedals.1. Are you sure you are using the right assignments ?????The default FS9 key for ParkingBrakes is "Control-." , not "." (which is the default key for Brakes).Check assignements in FS9 via menu Options-Control-Assignments, for- Brakes (apply/release)- Parking brake setActually, the FS9 message "PARKING BRAKES ....Press PERIOD to release" is WRONG !!.With the default setting, it doesn't release the ParkingBrakes directly, but because "." applies Brakes, it automatically release ParkingBrakes. So it only works indirectly, but not always !!. See 2. and 3. 2. If this was your problem:I can explain why the Brakes key (".") doesn't work. That is, if your pedals have Toebrakes and you DONOT have a registered version of FSUIPC.When FS9 detects proportional brakes (like toebrakes) it automatically disables the normal brake keys (and buttons you have assigned to these functions), i.e.:- Brakes (apply/release)- Left brakes (apply)- Right brakes (apply)Don't ask me why, this is just how it works :-)3. If this was NOT your problem:Maybe your toebrake axis are "jittering".If your ParkingBrakes are set (as indicated by the ParkingBrakes message on your screen), and you move the toebrake pedals, the ParkingBrakes are automatically released; so if your pedal axis "jitters", you may be able to set the ParkingBrakes but FS9 immediately releases them because it sees the Brakes moving. You can solve that by adding a Nullzone to your brakes axis, via menu Options-COntrols-Sensitivities.Also make sure that the Left/Right brake axis in FS9 are only assigned to your pedal toebrake axis, not to any axis as well.Cheers, Rob Barendregt
