July 6, 200421 yr Help!I am having some trouble getting Geoff Applegates Debonair to run.I have installed many other freeware aircraft before but I can't get this one to work correctly. If anyone recognises the symptoms then please post and let me know. If anyone has a solution then that would be even better.I have got the Debonair model/sound/multiple textures directories in Fs2002aircraft and the effect guages and sound files in the appropriate fs2002 directories (I think)FS2002 (pro) will launch and I can select the aircraft and watch the model spin around in V tails and normals and lots of livery but when I go to fly is then FS2002 crashes back to the desktop.I have tried several installs and also be reading all the forum threads about the debonair but I don't recognise and useful fixes.Appreciate the help.Rob.
July 7, 200421 yr Rob, this is what my Beech_Debonair folder looks like in FS9. Don't know if that will help you any or not. One thing to check is that you didn't unzip the gauge folders, they get copied into the your main Gauges folder INTACT.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/83068.jpgJim
July 7, 200421 yr Hi Rob,I am not sure I can help as I don't have fs2002. Some ideas though-did you make sure you downloaded only the version for fs2002 and not the update for 2004?From what you describe-I would suspect a gauge problem-an extremely early version of the Deb had a problem with the hsi gauge but that was long corrected (the first week it came out long ago)so that shouldn't be the problem. You can also try reinstalling from scratch and just overwrite everything-see it that helps.Hopefully if none of this works, someone else can jump in with a suggestion.good luck,Geofhttp://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
July 7, 200421 yr Jim, Geof,Thanks for your response. Perhaps you could just run thru this to double check.I am running FS2002 pro on Win 98.I have b33.zip dated 20/1/03 (read me is attache to ascertain what version I have). It was downloaded from avsim from fs2002 - orignal aircraft...list all files under size and Geof's Debonair is at the top of the tree!Screenshot of dir tree attached. This didn't look like the FS2002 installed tree so I unzipped it to D:tempI copied the followingd:temp..aircraft to D:..fs2002aircraft making sure the whole tree was installedd:temp...gauges to d:fs2002gauges & similarly effects and sounds and I thought that would be it.When I try to fly the Debonair it crashes to desktop with illegal operation but I can see the model rotating in the select aircraft menu.I don't mind downloading the file again so if you have a link to your home page and the right version then I am happy to try that.I found one gauge patch but this seem to predate the main file so I thought I'd ask advice first! All help appreciated. I feel duty bound to get the debonair working and get out and enjoy it especially as I have some idea of the hundreds of hours that goes into these packages. Rob.
July 8, 200421 yr The date of the one you have predates the patch. I'd recommend trying the patch next.
