October 26, 201213 yr Hi All, Just wanted some opinons from fellow flight simmers regarding SSD's. As it stands at the moment I have a 128GB OCZ Vertex 3 as my OS boot drive with FSX on a 1TB Seagate drive. I'm looking at picking up a second SSD with the intention of it being my dedicated FSX drive. Currently I'm looking at the OCZ Vertex 4 256GB or maybe the 512GB if I hold out a little longer. I'm just weighing up the cost at the moment as the 512GB is approx $200 AUD more expensive which also equates to 1 hour or real world flight training. I'm pretty new to SSD's, so just looking for opinions on if the Vertex 3 and Vertex 4 will play nice together? I'm sure they should be fine. An alternative could be the OCZ Agility which is a little cheaper but doesn't have the same performance level or asynchronous memory modules. I'm sure the 256GB would be satisfactory for my FSX install but just seeking opinions on this. My FS9 install was monster in size but that's because I managed it pretty poorly and installed everything under the sun. But I'm reformed now and plan on being more selective with my addons and what stays installed. haha Opinions would be appreciated.
