July 16, 200421 yr I'm having a "senior moment" here! I can't figure out how to get the cargo door open on Shupe's superb Dash7 acft? I know the rear door is mapped to SFT+E but the cargo door has me totally baffled. I've been thru SFT+T,H,Q,D and a few letters that will rename nameless.Anyone steer me in the right direction?TksJoeT
July 17, 200421 yr Try shift+E-1-2 This was a problem on some systems in FS2002. It wouldn't open sometimes or wouldn't close.Joe w.
July 17, 200421 yr JoeWAppreciate the input HOWEVER those don't work either....U know there are times when I think that "reported functions" don't "function as reported". I found another post in a forum asking how to get the cargo door open in this model & there were no responses. Either everyone thought the guy didn't deserve an answer or they didn't know how to open the door either! Too bad....it's an amazing piece of modeling work..JoeT
July 17, 200421 yr Works fine for me (in FS9). Like JoeW stated though, if you're using 2K2 it's a hit or miss deal whether it "always" works.Shift+E.....passenger doorShift+E_then 2.....for the cargo doorhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/84467.jpg
July 17, 200421 yr I'm using FS2k2 & as u said..it's hit & miss on Cargo Door ops. Guess I'll have to break down the pallets inside & pass the junk out thru the back pax door. Thank goodness for a burly FO!JoeT
July 17, 200421 yr Hi,Joe, my name is Tom. I can't help you with the door problem but I'll watch your post for any answers. I am having the same "senior moment" with the doors on the Eaglesoft Citation II S/P. Maybe it has something to do with the timing of the key presses - I don't know? It's a great aircraft with a lousy pilot - me.:-roll Hope you get the door problem solved. Have a good weekend.Tom(really senior):-wave
July 17, 200421 yr >I'm using FS2k2 & as u said..it's hit & miss on Cargo Door>ops. Guess I'll have to break down the pallets inside & pass>the junk out thru the back pax door. Thank goodness for a>burly FO!>>JoeTHahaha! :-lol If I remember right, I had the best success opening cargo doors in 2K2 at the more obscure type airports with minimal frame hits from the scenery, AI, and weather. No guarantee on that though, but worth a shot to see if you can actually unload your cargo and have it trucked to its destination. ;-)
July 17, 200421 yr Joe308 and Tom,My name is Milton and I'm responsible for your frustrations. ;-)The proper key sequence is the cargo door sequence: shift+e, then quickly release and press 2.The issue relates to xml gauges and key events. Key combinations requiring a set, then a number to be pressed get missed. This is a known issue and is made worse under heavier loads. Once the issue presents itself, you will not likely get the door to work without a reload of FS or a reboot to clear out your system. Here's a temporary way to get around it. Load the Dash 7 in spot view, open the door, then go to the 2D panel view. The Dash 7 has a LOT of gauges which tax the system. It is that load that awakes the issue. Loading the aircraft in spot view first allows you to open the door.Secondly, and more complex is to remove certain heavy gauges to eliminate the problem altogether. I do not currently have those items identified here but maybe I can find the fix somewhere.I can assure you that no one is more frustrated by this issue than I am.Hang in there and I'll get back to you.Meanwhile, you can visit this website for the start of something new.http://www.flightsimonline.com/Dash74/Milton Shupe
July 17, 200421 yr Hi Milt,Your screen shots look tremendous! It's a good thing I'm much too mature to start screaming "WHEN? WHEN? WHEN?" !!!Waiting patiently???Best regards,JackD
July 18, 200421 yr Milton....Tried ur "fix" & bingo..my cargo door is open, my FO isn't sweating like a pig anymore and the congo line that was passing all the stuff out the back door can stand down.BTW. I noted that the crates on the pallent are marked for Don Moser in Kodiak. I'm aware of Don's Alaskan scenery etc but was not aware of his true Asnlaska connect. Does he or did he live in Kodiak? I was staioned there in 71-72. I flew a lot up there with the USN, later CG, Flying Club. In 1974 I ended up in in Naval Flight School in Pensacola. Have some fond memories of the Kodiak area. Pass my regards on to Don. I'd be interested in hearing his Kodiak perspectives!!Again tks for ur help.JoeT
July 18, 200421 yr Joe,LOL No, Don has never lived in Kodiak to my knowledge, When we designed the Dash 7, Don was running his Alaskan VA and on the alpha team as one of many real world pilots. I was doing a lot of bush flying back then and Don had some great scenery. He also was a great project supporter going so far as to create a special beta test airport with varying runway lengths scenery in AK for the Dash 7 down and dirty testing. ;-)Don is alive and well somewhere in the great Commonwealth of Virginia unless he recently moved.Happy that is working for you now. The FS9 version of the Dash 7 is less finicky about that. :-)
July 18, 200421 yr Here's a quick fix:Download pmdg_cargo_door.zip from the Avsim library. Thomas Scholz created a gauge to solve this problem on the PMDG aircraft, but it will work on any plane with a "second" door, including the Dash 7.
