  2. Thanks for the reply!What I'm looking for is ONSHORE, land-based, drilling/service rigs. Oil and Gas.I'll have a look at the polish stuff, thanks a ton for the link! But you wouldn't happen to know if there are any macro's/API's etc that a guy can use for new developements?And I'm well aware of ODG's work. I've spent many an hour flying Jordan's B412 out to your rigs/platforms in the gulf! Keep it up guys!
  3. Does anyone know where I may be able to find some Macro's/objects geared toward the Oil industry?There are tons of offshore platforms available, but I can't seem to find a single Land drilling rig, with the exception of some very old looking "derrick" types...Any help is appreciated.
  4. Here's a quick fix:Download pmdg_cargo_door.zip from the Avsim library. Thomas Scholz created a gauge to solve this problem on the PMDG aircraft, but it will work on any plane with a "second" door, including the Dash 7.
  5. Hey, I didn't say smooth. I said "Flyable" LOLI don't use AI traffic. If I'm flying, I'm on VATSIM. Res settings are set at 1024x768 and use windowed mode.I've got a ton of addon's. The B200, PMDG etc. Those two planes I don't fly much if there's alot of traffic around me (VA flyin, for example) as they will increase the system load. But like I said, rest of the settings are set to about the mid-point.I just find it curious that I can get an average of around 15-18 fps, taking into account weather etc, when guys with more "powerfull" rigs are reporting far less...And hell, we all need something else to talk about! LOL
  6. When a person downloads the real world weather (updated every 15 minutes) I can tune in an airport's ATIS and get the current weather. However, once you start or join a multiplayer session, that feature is disabled.So is there anyway to read current weather data while in multiplayer mode while using FS9's downloaded weather? I use it on vatsim during heavy traffic because it's easier on the frames then ActiveSky 2004 is...
  7. Silly question in the subject line, I know. But I'm curious as to why my system runs FS9 so well, when others don't.First off, Here's my specs:Pentium 3 600mhz512MB SDramATI Radeon 7200 64MB videoSound blaster LIVE! 5.1Now, I'll grant you that I've disabled many of WinXP pro's non-essential services. I've also got a few minor tweaks in FS9, such as the smaller cloud textures. I've also got my display sliders in FS9 set around the mid-point, so it doesn't look as good as it could, but I'm more of a "smooth flight" kinda guy anyway and don't care much about the outside "eye candy". So long as the sim works, I always say...Normally, I'll get between 20 and 25 fps in FS9 COF. At highly detailed airports, such as LAX, it may drop to around 18 fps. The only time I really get a performance hit is during heavy weather, with lots of clouds. Then the machine may drop as low as 9-10 fps. Which is still very flyable, and the hit doesn't usually last too long.So I'm just curious as to why this rig will run with almost equal performance to some peoples 1.5 - 2 gig machines with 128MB vid cards. At my VA, I get people emailing me all the time about how I do that... Well, I just load FS and go.I am not (yet) using the "folder compression" tweak that's been discussed in other threads and I haven't overclocked anything...

  9. Thanks for the help, Dick.I have very limited programming knowledge. I'm going to play with this code, but if it's not too much trouble, would it be possible to break down the different elements shown above?For instance, I think the AREA16 tag is the flatten area isn't it?And I see the different SetElevation tags (476, 500 and 524 which I'm assuming are also in meters)But where does the actual dimensions of the pad come (or bridge surface in your example) come into play. Is is set by the Lat/Long coordinates? Or does the SenseBorder call do this?Again, I'll play around and see if I can figure it out. But if you have some time to point out those areas I'd sure appreciate it.Thanks again for your help! Here's hoping this works!

There's got to be a better way to do this...Right now, to harden a surface for something like a helipad on top of an API macro object that I insert (Like an oil rig), I place an "invisible" runway at the height I want the pad at. I then add a flatten Polygon to prevent FS from heaving the ground up to the invisible runway level...Problem is, If you fly away from the rig, say more then 15-20 NM, then return to it, you see the terrain rising up to the runway height, which of course pushes my 3D object (the rig) up on the "hill" FS has created. I then fall through the helipad....The only fix for this I've found is to refresh my scenery upon returning to the rig, which is a pain in the back-side...What other techniques are available to harden the helipad surface. I've explored the "zero height" advanced building option, and it does work if crash detection is turned on, but there's got to be a better way. Some pilots wont use crash detect and they're going to run into problems if I release my scenery to the general public...Thanks in advance.
