Panel upgrade compatible with DX-10?

Since I'm having issues w/ the Flight1 Cessna and DX-10 I would like to try and make a plane work.

My questions are, which planes are best to try and alter and will still work in DX-10.

I read online about adding gauges to the Carenado C172 but it can be difficult since you can't get below the base texture for the main panel. Any thoughts on this?

After reading about the Carenado C172 issues with attempting to add gauges, I was lead to the Carenado C182Q and the C182 II RG. From what I read they are much easier to work on and allow you to add/edit more on the panel.cfgs. Any thoughts?

I would like to purchase either Simflyer or Reality XP gauges to do these upgrades. Can I have some feedback on which would be better/worse easier to work with etc...and most important which ones work WITH DX-10.

If anyone has done this already would you be willing to help me out, possible share a panel.cfg and let me know which gauges you purchased so I can do the same.
