July 18, 200421 yr Hi all! Can someone point me to a GOOD Hatchet for '04? I have looked high and low, and all I seem to have found so far has been some GREAT planes for 2002. In '04 they are missing parts. Any ideas? Thanks!Don
July 19, 200421 yr Hi Don,The only idea I have for you is to contact Carenado and ask them to either update the freeware one they had for FS2002 or make a new one from scratch! Or perhaps someone here will be become interested in firing up gMax or FSDS2 and start building one. Either way, if someone did decide to start making one I think it would be quite some time before an FS2004 version of the Tomahawk would show up, as it takes a considerable amount of time to make an aircraft.Regards,Jim
July 19, 200421 yr Hi, the Carenado Tomahawk works fairly well in FS9, if you change the OLDFRAME entry for it in the FS9.cfg from 0 to 1. Still no prop displayed though, and the large balloon bulbs in the outside view hurt the eye. But at least the inner views are repaired, and it flies decently.
July 19, 200421 yr Author Thanks guys. Being it isn't that popular of an airplane, I'm sure nobody is going to rush out to make one. Oh well.... ;)Don
July 19, 200421 yr Hi,Thanks for that info Uwe. Personally, I don't think the missing prop is too big of a deal. But Don did seem to be looking for one that wasn't 'missing parts'. The Carenado Tomahawk is an FS2000 bird updated for FS2002. That's a little old but I'm willing to go ahead and install it and check it out in FS2004.If you're interested in it Don, it can be downloaded at flightsim.com and the filename is 'tommy.zip'.Jim
July 19, 200421 yr Don,After having just installed the Carenado Tomahawk and comparing the gauges with my installation to the dates on the gauges on the one available at flightsim.com, I don't think the fellow who uploaded it there applied the update for WinXP. It's an update that says it keeps WinXP from crashing when flying the Tomahawk. If you want the Carenado Tomahawk then let me know and I will give you a link will allow you to download the 'original' package, which has the FS2000 installer, an FS2002 updater, and then finally an update you run for WinXP compatibility which supplies the most recent version of the gauges. Just let me know if you really want it!Cheers,Jim
July 19, 200421 yr Don,I was making a PA-38. It's my first attempt at making a plane in gmax or any other program for that matter. I flew one along time ago and absolutely love this plane. Unfortunately due to commitments I had to stop. Maybe in the future I will continue working on it. Here is a picture with the last progress. very incomlete as you can see!RegardsCaerdyddflyerNice to meet another person who appreciates this aircraft.
July 19, 200421 yr Caerdyddflyer, too bad you haven't been able to continue working on it. :(In case anyone's curious, here's a pic of the Carenado Hatchet job.Cheers,Jimhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/84736.jpg
July 19, 200421 yr Author Hey Tinsoldier! Thanks for the info. That is the one I downloaded and fixed up. The prop is missing and the wheels are stationary. I wish they would fix those two things. It is a nice plane. Yeah...I have to see the prop. Spoiled I guess. ;) That red model is a beaut!!! Man...if you ever get the time, that will be be a beautiful airplane. Thanks all for the feedback. Don
