Hows my build?

Featured Replies

Hey all, .. I'm a first time builder, and I've learned alot in these last couple of days about hardware, and assembly of the computer. All thought I had advanced knowledge of computers otherwise, never really stepped on to the area of PCs. So anyway, I'm running the HP G71-340US, which is a pretty nice laptop. Not really a gaming laptop AT ALL. I manage to pull of 25fps-ish with absolutely no scenery or weather. But thats in like wilco aircraft. Don't get me started in the PMDG ^_^ . So, I have some friends @ ZNY ARTCC on VATSIM, that know a ton more than I do and I got some advice and one of them reccomended newegg, and I do not regret going there. So far my experience is great! Shipping should arrive here in a day or three  . But my ram/wifi pci adapter/ anti-static wrist strap are in a different shipping plan. But aside from the RAM its not depedent on that package's arrival. But anyway, I was wondering about some ideas of how my PC will do!

Specs:

- AMD FX-6300 AM3+ 3.5ghz

- MSI Radeon 6570 HD 1GB

- 1.5 TB Seagate HD (More info here)

- Raidmax 600w PSU

- Raidmax Helios (4fans preinstalled,1 optional side one)(More info here)

- Mushkin 8GB RAM( None of my friends heard of it, but I was told by many "RAM is RAM")

- GIGABYTE|GA-970A-D3 AM3+

All in a $500 budget

Eventually I'll update the graphic card, but my friend whos in college for hardware(currently going to cti school) approved anything in the 6k series.

Just looking to get few more minds in this...

Thanks for any comments,

Jimmy.

P.S Planning to overclock CPU from anywhere to 3.6-4.0, Pretty sure my cooling can handle that, telling me otherwise would be nice.

Thanks!!!

The FX series is really lousy on IPC, I would not recommend the FX series for FSX , get a Nvidia as it performs much better in FSX ,the ATI are solid performers though.

You are much better getting an i5 2500k + 560ti.

Yeah... Unfortunately I ordered already but I wouldn't have enough for the nvida(missplellef) it will be a nice birthday present in march. I thought the radeon6570 was a good starter :O

The 6570 is low-mid gaming card, so you already ordered the Fx 6300 too ?

Affirm.. Sorry for typos I was in school lunch trying to hide my secret geekness from my friends :P I'm planning just to upgrade as I need... But like I said, i had about 15 people tell me its a good setup that I trust, but its nice to get other views. I feel happy with it, I'm sure if i had a better gfx card, I'd do better but I do not see so much of a loss in the build..

And just thinking about it, FSX was oddly programmed to base of CPU, it relys on the CPU more than the actual video card

Get Nvdia. Seriously.

There are so many things in FSX that are exclusively for Nvidia cards. You won't miss out one bit.

Hopefully later on I will :D

Sure it is CPU dependent but that CPU of yours may not cut it well, FSX does need a gpu for AA and stuff don't you want nice looking visuals ?. Try and get a nvidia as it plays better with FSX.

It's a nice setup for the price, if you have a use for 6 cores, not the case if it's for FSX.
