Surprised nobody else has replied, so i'll help you!

To see for sure, post your crash report. Go to start > right click on computer > manage > application events > select error and copy the info it gives you.

Most likely it's g3d.dll, which could be because you have ENB series installed? Get the latest FSUIPC. http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html

You could also try the uiautomationcore.dll fix here http://www.ramoonus.nl/2010/01/01/the-fix-to-microsoft-flight-simulator-x-crash-on-windows-7-x64/

Good luck!

Backup and Delete your fsx.cfg located here: %AppData%\Microsoft\FSX\

Start FSX so it will build a fresh one then exit fsx.

Go here: http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html

Follow all the steps and download a new fsx.cfg.

You may need to do this when ever any major changes are made to either FSX or your system like a new video card or driver update? A fresh tweaked fsx.cfg is a good thing.

I also like to flush the shader cache after scenery changes..

Now THAT's something I've not heard of previously....."flushing shader cache"...

What's involved? What effect? what risks?

My "Shader" folder has (only?) 35MB/5 folders/1,075 files. Is this normal/average?

My system (i7-2400k/8Gb ram/nV580 on Asus-Z77dL with 3xSSDs) seems to be hogging RAM.

I am a newbie to the 737ngx. Love it ! But.....

After even making "by the book" the first tutorial (EGKK-EHAM), I only get to right base join at Amsterdam and then I get OOM/freeze/close.

Would 'flushing my cache' help??

Prior to NGX instal I could fly all night - mainly GAs - and my Ram stayed below 4-Gb.

Now it is seemingly creeping up & up.....at start-up = 1.86GB. After load FSX = 2.2. By DET = 4.4 and then simply flying over the North Sea I can watch it rising (in Task Mgr)....untll total freeze, over the Dutch coast.

If this isn't a cure for my ills, any OTHER ideas or suggestions ?

The frustration of making a perfect departure/flight.....but not being able to land ...is driving me nuts!

Any advice would be appreciated.

Flushing your shader cache really dosen't do anything. It's basically stored data that FS creates when you load it. It's like a browser cache.

It's essential to do it when changing shaders though.
