ORBX England and default airports

Featured Replies

Heya!

I just bought and installed Orbx England, but getting abit of problem with my installed UK2000 airports.

Even though i have manually moved the UK2000 airports above the Orbx Eng in the scenery list i still see the default (orbx) Fsx airport.

I've found one "solution" to the problem, in disable the scenery file of Orbx in the scnenery list. This "solution" will however disable all the "non-airport" sceney objects aswell.

Anyone know how i can get rid of the default (orbx) airports?

I attached a screenshot to show you what i mean.

Cheers!

Mmm that is strange. I too have UK2000 airports (3 of them) and FTX ENG and as long as I have the UK2000 airports above FTX in the Scenery Library, I do not see the default/Orbx airports.... The UK2000 airports are displaying just fine.

Perhaps you could try building a new Scenery.cfg

Or, with Eng selected in FTXC (and FSX and FTXC closed) go to fsx/scenery/world/scenery and find a BGL file with FTX and the ICAO code for that particular airport in the name of the file, and change the .BGL to .OFF and see if that helps

Strange indeed...how does one build a new Scenery.cfg?

Hmmm only have two files from FTW, both which i cant open. Any special program needed in order to open them?

Thanks for the help btw!

hi, now I'm confused. When you select Eu in FTXC it should place all of the necessary files from within the ORBX/eu folder into the path above. It seems mine isn't doing it for some reason (off to get some support) but if it operates like most other ORBX scenery, you'll see a file called ADE_FTX_ENG_XXXX.BGL (where XXXX is the ICAO code of your airport)

You don't need to open the file, you just need to change its suffix to OFF. If you don't know how to do this, just right-click on the file and choose rename then change its suffix to OFF (don't delete the . or when you change it back it won't work)

There may be a ADE_FTX_ENG_XXXX_CVX.BGL file too. If I'm not mistaken this contains the roads and landcalss for the given airport so you may want to set that to OFF too. There are far more knowledgable people than me who can answer this properly, or ask in the ORBX or UK2000 forums. There are a couple of threads already about this very subject

It may be that FTX EU operates in a different way, as I have selected it, only two files appear in the FSX scenery folder as far as I can see, but it still seems to work, so I'm a little confused, but that's basically how you exclude a given airport in an easy way.

EDIT

in fact it seems it only sticks elevation adjustents in the FSX scenery folder (I'm not a scenery builder as you might have guessed) try going to FSX\ORBX\FTX_EU\FTX_EU_ENG_05_SCENERY\ and finding the BGL files in there

Alright, found the files in the ORBX folder now:)

So how would a file for example manchester look like after i've changed the name to "off"?

This is the file names before i've done anything:

ADE_FTX_ENG_EGCC

ADE_FTX_ENG_EGCC_CVX

Am I doing it right by just typing "off" after the file name?, like this:

ADE_FTX_ENG_EGCC_OFF

Sorry if im abit slow, this is all new to me :P

Thanks for helping me!
