best landclass

Featured Replies

First off I have a minimal system so I can't afford to tie up my processor with things like better mesh. The first best inprovement would seem to be landclass. From what I am reading it looks like FSGenesis might be the best (accuracy) as far as the US is concerned. For the rest of the world would MYWorld be a good choice? Would it be feasable to install MYWorld at a lower priority lever and FSGenesis higher so it would override when flying in the US but be available otherwise? What would you do? (Don't tell me to upgrade my system - that's not an option.) I just want more visual accuracy. Would all the freeware landclass uploads here be more accurate in the long run since they are evolving and often made by people familiar with their own locales?Pau

The freeware landclass files by Ian Thatcher are excellent. He has covered Australia, New Zealand, New Guinea and most of southeast Asia. You can get them at http://virtualvfr.com/ by clicking on "Tassim Downloads."The freeware Africa landclass by Jim Keir available here at AVSIM is also very good, and covers, in addition to the entire African continent, southern parts of Portugal, Spain, Greece, Sicily and most of the Mideast including Iraq, Iran and the south half of Turkey.Jim is working on the rest of Europe and South America as well, but it is not ready yet.
