Opus FSX on Remote Computer

Featured Replies

So I am perusing the OpusFSX site and read this:

"Enable Live Weather Engine if required. This option is available in limited form on the free demonstration software. The LWE is restricted to 160km (100 miles) in all directions and the weather is updated only whilst your aircraft is on the ground.

Select the on Local Computer option, the on Networked Client option is not yet implemented."

Is this telling me that I cannot run the Live Weather Engine from a networked PC? Or is that a restriction on the demo mode only.

Is anyone generating weather for their flight sim computer from a remote computer using Opus? I currently am using SimConnect with AS2012 and am interested in Opus as I have heard so many good things about it.

Thanks,

John

Hi John

At the moment the LWE only runs on the server, there is no client side mode, but there will be in the new year. But ...

This is not on performance grounds. The LWE has absolutely NO affect on the performance of FSX, in fact, you could argue that it will operate far more efficiently and unobtrusively on the actual FSX system (or server system). The client side operation will be introduced in preperation for the LW Assistant feature which IS best run on a client system. Basically our LWE gives you RW weather and has no need to be off loaded onto a client system, unless you are living in the dark ages and still using a single core PC. smiley1.gif

Running FSX and the LWE on any modern quad (or more) core machine will not affect your FSX performance.

Regards

Stephen
