December 8, 201213 yr Hey folks, Just another quick question: If fsx only uses up to 4 cores, are you able to set affinity priority in windows task manager to run the likes of active sky etc, so that a.s. isnt using any of the cores fs is using? Regards Paul Paul Westcott
December 9, 201213 yr Author Hi KJ, Thanks for your reply, but what do you mean by "use parameters"? Paul Westcott
December 9, 201213 yr create a batch file put in this line start/affinity a "b" "c" where a represents a hex value of which cores to be used, like the affinitymask setting in the fsx.cfg BUT the value has to be hexadecimal here b is the title, leave it blank c is the exact path of your active sky exe file example given start/affinity 8 "" "c:\AS2012\AS2012_Exec.exe" will start as2012 solely on core 4 on a 4 core processor with ht disabled regards, Markus
December 11, 201213 yr Author Hi Markus, Thanks for your help. I will as about creating batch files at a later date. Ok so most disable HT, does that mean the "extra" 4 cores (for a 3770k) are disabled and rendered inoperable and will not be used whatsoever? is disabling Ht just for more stable overclocks?(lower temps) Just reading there - does all ivy bridge run 2400+ ram? looking at specs, although i know most of you all run 3570-3770k's the specs say "max memory speed ddr3 1600" As much as i read that the 3770k is overkill for just fsx, wont it be of use for other programs (as, and also fs2crew?) i did kind of ask this the other day, and was told i could create a batch file so a.s could use other cores. The 3770k is only £70 cheaper, and yes, if it was more useful wouldnt i be aswell getting it, - dont get me wrong, i wouldn't mind saving the £70, but i also wouldnt mind spending it if it was going to be of SOME use Paul Westcott
