Lost forests with osm2xp

Recommended Posts

I noticed this since updating to beta 9, maybe it was there before

If I have an area, small, made using osm2xp, a much larger area surrounding and including it are deforested

Is this normal for that?

Hello !

You can find several tabs in OSM2XP where you have options to generate OpenSteetMap forests, and where you can exclude forests from the default scenery.

Excluding default forests for a very small area may also exclude the default forests for the complete tile, so I would recommend to generate OSM2XP sceneries only for complete tiles, or not to exclude forests.

But first check if the forests are accurate for your area:

X-Plane is working with 1x1 degre tiles. Example: +49+006

If you want OSM2XP to generate a complete tile, you need the source data for a complete tile.

You can find source files here:

http://download.geofabrik.de/openstreetmap/

If you want to extract the source data only for one tile, you can use a tool called osmconvert. Example:

osmconvert europe.osm.pbf -b=6,49,7,50 >mytile.osm
