AI Traffic Departing Runway ATC Sequencing

Featured Replies

This is probably a old question, but why does the AI traffic take so long to depart the runway after landing? Is there anyway to speed this up?At Midway there is two parallel runways, I was holding short runway 22L and noticed that ATC wasn't using 22R for landing traffic. Why? Thanks!Barry

1) I believe it has something to do with the air or cfg file for that plane. I don't remember whether you can modify that.2) It depends usually on the type of traffic and the most common runway that Microsoft believes it should be (which may or may not be similar to real life).

Using Afcad, (afcad221.zip)it is possible to edit airports to control which runways are used for landing and take-offs.e.g. you could close 22R and 4L to landingsand 22L and 4R to take-offsto force separate use of parallel runways. If you leave the choice to FS, it will mix landings and take-offs, favouring the longest runway available to it which is close to the wind. Of course, if you have a lot of traffic, separating landings and take-offs may cause an increased number of go-arounds due to slow clearance of the landing runway, which maybe why FS mixes them up.

I don't know what the specifics are for the modification, but it must be possible to modify by plane, since AI Aardvark claim that their AI planes are adjusted to exit the runway more expeditiously than MS default.
