Importing FS2004 DC-3 into FS2002

Featured Replies

Hi, Has anyone successfully imported the FS2004 DC-3into FS2002? If so, what are the steps for doingthis? Thanks in advance, Dave

I gave it a go out of passing interest, Dave, but ran into many problems. Bottom line was, anyway, why? There are plenty of repaints available (ahem ...) of Jan Visser's wonderful freeware FS2000 aircraft, updated for FS2002, and many good FS2002 panels and good soundsets. All you will do without is the VC. But if that bothers you, you should be flying the new MAAM-SIM bird in FS9 anyway!See my site at www.swiremariners.com/dc3.html for a Dak or two for FS2002.Mark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP FleetDC-3 Airwayshttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg

Hi Mark, The only reason that I have for using the default DC-3 wasan addon called "Douglas DC3 3 Levels Panel" by Ronald R. Cachemaille. I found these panels to be the easiet to workwith. I will check your website for other panels and DC-3s. By the way, how are framerates with the new MAAM DC-3.I have been debating whether to buy it or not. I have anAthlon 2800, ATI 9700, and 512meg ram. What do you think? Thanks, Dave

None of the FS2004 default aircraft can be imported into FS2002. They were compiled with the FS2004 SDK, which basically means the visual model won't display in FS2002--including the VC. This is also one of the reasons why more and more freeware and payware releases don't display in FS2002. I've suggested to designers that unless they have a FS2004 specific feature that they must use, they should use the FS2002 SDK. Of course, this doesn't apply to FSDS 2.x aircraft which display fine in both sims.-John

<<>>If you like Ronald's work, you may also like my 'IFR' panels for the default FS9 DC-3, which effect a number of modifications; not unrealistically, though.<<>You'd have no problem. And with a moniker like yours, heck, how can you NOT buy it? It has the best flight model you could wish for, and there are a lot of freeware add-ons for it on the way including different configurations, many liveries and even a float model.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg

Ivan Hsu makes a utility that can convert FS2004 aircraft to work with older FS versions as far back as CFS2. You can download the latest release of his software from this thread (2nd reply):http://www.cfcforums.com/showthread.php?t=332Korber
