August 15, 200421 yr I have just started using the Saitek X45 and can work out the programing using their Profile editor, but, I can't seem to get my head around the 2 rotary knobs. I wanted to set them up for ind. braking, but see that there is an option for axis, bands, mouse etc. I see that there is no mention at all on how or what these do, other than the axis which is understandable. I tried to split the band and got even more lost with the options. If anyone has a minute could you explain the best way of assigning the Ind. brakes (F11-F12) to them. Or how to use the rotary's in general. Thanks for any helpAnthony...http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-customer.jpg
August 15, 200421 yr I have my differential braking assigned to Hat Button 3 just below Rotary 2. I use UP for both brakes, DOWN for Parking Brakes, LEFT for left brake (F11) and RIGHT for right brake ( F12). I have the repeat funtion enabled in the simulator profiler ( I don't use the Saitek software because of mouse and keyboard conflicts with their virtual mouse and keyboard) and the brakes essentally are applied as long as I hold the button down. It's worked well for me.Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/DEV.jpghttp://www.globecargo.org/images/VAA_Sen_captain.jpg
August 16, 200421 yr Ahhhh........the joy of the rotary butons. There's two ways to go about utilising them. The Easy way, and the HARD way.First, the hard way. Read up the documentation that comes with the profile editor. If you don't have the help files on your CD, (I didn't have them on mine) you can download it from Saitek's site, or do a search on google. Learn about how to create macros, etc. Try, try, try again. Now the EASY way. One word: F S U I P C. Well, the payware version at least.Read up the FSUIPC documentation. It explains how to do this.I've used the rotary buttons to set flaps.....on the PMDG, there's 9 stages of flaps. Button all the way clockwise is flaps up. THen turning counter clockwise, a little until you hear the "click" from the PMDG sounds and then you stop. I get four "clicks" or notches of flaps until the knob gets to the center position. Then another 4 until the knob is fully counterclockwise, which is flaps 40.I don't use differential braking, but it can also be set up in a similar way. I'm not gonna explain it here, cause it will take up too much time and space. Just read the FSUIPC docs and if there's anything you're still not clear on, ask over at the FSUIPC forums, or you can do another post here. If I can help I will.EDIT:>>>>I don't use the Saitek software because of mouse and keyboard conflicts with their virtual mouse and keyboard):)
August 16, 200421 yr Thanks very much for detailing that, I have the registered FSUIPC, and I did not even think about using that, you have so much stuff it's a job to remember it half the time :-rollThanks again for the help....Anthony......http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-customer.jpg
