CapSim727 fuel problems!!

Featured Replies

I'd post this on the CaptainSim site, but I'm having problems getting registered, anyway, I just bought their 727s, wonderful planes by the way..........took my first flight with a full load of fuel and low and behold, when the center tank emptied, fuel did not transfer from the wing tanks!! I cannot figure out what's wrong. Wondering if any CaptainSim 727 owners out there can help!?Randy Jura, KPDX

Hi Randy,First of all you're not managing the fuel properly in the 727. It's not like the 737 where you empty the centre, in this case #2 tank, first before emptying the wing tanks. The proper way of fuel management on the 727 is to feed all the engines from #2 tank until it equals the amount in #1 and #3 tanks and then feed tank to engine, 1 to 1, 2 to 2, 3 to 3 maintaining equal amounts in each tank. An example would be if you had 11,500 lbs in #1 & #3 tanks and 23,000 lbs in #2 tank. You would first burn off 11,500 lbs from #2 tank by crossfeeding to all engines. When #2 tank is at 11,500 lbs, close the crossfeeds and feed tank to engine. If starting off with equal amounts in all three tanks then just feed tank to engine.cheers,JohnBoeing 727/737 & Lockheed C-130/L-100 Mechanichttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpg
